So I’ve had pain round my wisdom tooth for two weeks it hurts more when laying down and pain goes into my jaw neck and cheek it looks a bit red around the wisdom tooth so I went to the dentist today and he said I have pericoronitis and he got the food out from under the flap of gum and cleaned it he said it means there is an Infection but he didn’t give me any antibiotics just said to keep it clean by brushing and see how it goes is that the normal procedure I thought that you would get given antibiotics for it scared that I didn’t get anything for it???

I've had this when mine were erupting and didn't need antibiotics. The gum normally settles once the irritant is gone but if it keeps going then call them because you will need antibiotics.

@dentalnelly
Does it take awhile for the pain to go after it’s been cleaned

It took me a couple of days. Just keep cleaning and rinsing.

@Alwaysanxiety2 Fingers crossed. But also do call them if it makes you feel better. And if things get worse - it shouldn't - call them.

@dentalnelly
Yeah sure thanks again hopefully I won’t need to
