I had an appointment last week via 111 for an abcess causing slight swelling. I was given amoxycillin for 5 days. I'm awaiting sedation dentistry but thinking I will need this doing quicker than the months long waiting list. My question is, if I phone the dentist back would they prescribe more or different antibiotics ? Or would I need to go through 111 again?

Thanks.

I assume you're not registered anywhere? You need to go through 111 again.
Emergency duty is normally done on a rota system, you're not likely to see the same dentist twice.
Has the Amoxyl not worked?

@Gordon hi Gordon, The swelling has gone down but there is still something there and still drainage. I'm not registered with a dentists so having to use 111.

In that case I would wait a bit, the only realistic antibiotic left to take would be Metronidazole, you want to keep that in reserve in case things flare up again before your appointment.
