One more question please.

Can a dentist tell from digital xrays whether a wisdom tooth has roots wrapped around a jaw bone. Aslo can they tell from xrays if the tooth is near a nerve.

In other words can a dentist after reading xRays tell if an extraction will be routine or more complicated.

My tooth is a right lower wisdom tooth that is fully errupted and the molors in front of it were extracted many years ago so it is kind of serving as a molor but is positioned slightly forward, It has had a previous filling and now has a cavity on the outer side at the gum line and has some likely abcess (although no swelling and toothache that comes and goes).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Alice

Mostly, yes. Doesn't matter if it's digital or not BTW :)

If it's fully erupted it won't be near the nerve unless you're terribly unlucky.
