Quick NHS question - Is an onlay a filling??

I was advised that a new (expensive private) filling I have should probably be replaced with an onlay as the 2 remaining cusps are flexing and causing a little pain.


Can anyone tell me if an onlay counts as a filling on the NHS or is it in the crown price bracket??

Hi sudzs, onlays are charged as Band 3 (£209), I guess because they are usually made in a dental lab so there are extra costs involved. ....now I wonder if the private dentist will give me a refund on that filling that is causing me pain......
