Hello chaps!

I know this question has probably been asnwered multiple times but i'm struggling to find it :)

I recently was told I need a root canal on a bottom molar that had an old filling, the tooth cracked and was causing pain when chewing and occasional tooth ache. It has taken 5 attempts to get the root canal done, simply because even with double the local anesthetic my tooth would not become fully numb, he managed to clean 2 canals but everytime he tried to do the third canal it felt like he was electrocuting me through the tooth, eventually he had to inject the gun twice with local acesthetic and also one shot directly into the canal that was causing so much pain, after he did that he was able to clean the canal out completely and sealed it.

At the moment the canals have been sealed but it has a temporary filling due to me having a crown sized up next time in a few weeks.

The problem i'm having is that the tooth is very sensitive to tapping still, for example when brushing my teeth or when moving my lower jaw from side to side, it is the same sensation I had before I had the root canal done, the root canal was done 4 days ago, is this normal?

I'm going back in just over a week so I can ask him directly but came here for another opinion :)

Many thanks!

Jack

Assuming the root canal claning and filling was done well the sensitive will drop a great deal within 2 weeks

I second that. If the pain is getting better over the days, that means that the tooth is on the right track and healing. If the pain is not getting better during these two weeks, then it is worth checking it with your dentist.
