Sometimes, I feel like Lady Luck's made me her personal play toy.. :( Anyways, onto the issue at hand. Today, early in the morning, I woke up, did my usual flossing and brushing, an hour later, I begin to feel a dull ache on my first molar. I didn't think too much of it but after a certain amount of hours, my jaw began to become sore. And recently, when my tongue accidentally touched the top of my molar, it sent a sharp pain. Is it possible that there's a crack on it? I mean, when I trace it when my finger, it feels like there's a small line in the middle on one side of the molar. Any advice will be greatly welcomed.

Update. Pain's starting to fade, still there though, but the teeth feels...more loose? I mean, it seems to wiggle more than the rest of my teeth and it still hurts when my finger moves it but it doesn't seem to visibly move, nor does it move when I tried to wiggle it on the sides. The dentist had mentioned I have no cavities so, I'm not sure what's going on. Starting to worry me tbh. Tooth in question is third from the top. The biggest one.

Oh, and the orange bit isn't decay it was just some food leftover as I had not brushed nor flossed after dinner yet.

P.S, I do apologize if I've been asking too many questions/opening too many threads. I tend to worry and overthink a lot, it gets worse when I think about anything dental.

Yet another update. The pain's mostly gone now, although, there's a dull throbbing on the tooth where there was pain before. It comes and goes and honestly is frightening me a little. I'm trying not to panic but it's currently a losing battle. Anyone has any idea what could cause this? Is it possible that this pain I'm feeling is just my head imagining it and thus, it occurs or is something bigger at work?

Update.. Kinda. So, went to a dentist yesterday. She said that it was most likely a case of tooth sensitivity as due to my irregular brushing and non-existent flossing habits prior to three weeks ago. There was a huge build up in tartar and that after the scaling done three weeks ago, the tooth will most likely be sensitive after a while. Although, what she said has made me wonder, the throbbing started only two weeks after the scaling is done. Is that normal or is something worse at work? Any replies will be welcomed and any advice on how I should deal with sensitive teeth will be much appiericated.

Hey, I'm sorry no one has replied to you yet. Dentist used to frequent these forums a lot, but they don't seem to come around as much any more.

For sensative teeth the most popular remedy on these boards is taking sensodyne (Or any of the other "enamel repairing" toothpastes) and actually rubbing a small amount of the toothpaste on the tooth, and leaving it there.

Overbrushing can cause teeth to be sensative as well, so maybe go easy on that spot.

For achey throbby gums they recommend warm salt water swishes. (feels amazing)

I believe red flags would be if there is any major sensativity to cold or heat. If that's the case, there may be a crack or nerve issue brewing.

Good luck, I hope things continue to get better for you.

Thanks for the reply, and honestly, perhaps it's because it's Xmas comin' up that they're busying with their private life? Or the amount of people that have decided to flood the dentist at year end. One of the dentist I went to is experiencing this right now tbh. But yeah, I'll do as you say,and.. well, hope that things can get better.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't brought aware of these issues, because all it does is really drive me up the wall with worry. But I'm certain that it's probably for the best that I'm aware of it now instead of it getting even worse than it is atm. The pain also seemed to have stopped almost completely. If only appearing really rarely. I'm starting to wonder if it could be my jaw as it is sore as I floss with my jaw wide open.
Probably not a good idea, but eh..

So.. Interesting thing happened.. I went out and a friend of mine recommended sensodyne toothpaste for the tooth sensitivity. It felt like there was.. something extra in it. Kinda feel like the polisher that the dentist uses after a scaling. Some of the toothpaste seems to get into my gums and causes my teeth to feel.. Odd. Until I use my tongue to push it a little to.. pop/click it back into place. Is this normal? The toothpaste in question is "Sensodyne repair and protect" The previous toothpaste I used didn't cause this to happen.

I want to stress again that I am not a dentist. I wonder if maybe your pushing the tooth with your tongue more often than you're realizing, mixed with a little gum recession and causing the tooth to pop/click? I have a couple teeth that do that, I find the more I mess with them the clickier they get, so I try to keep my tongue off of them. I'm not sure if the sensodyne is to blame. It's meant to fill/seal the tiny pathways that lead to the sensitive parts of the tooth. Maybe the ingredient that seals is making brittle crunchy layer around your tooth that breaks under the pressure of your tongue? I really don't know. I use sensodyne rather frequently and haven't had thAt issue, but I guess anything is possible? Maybe someone more experienced or educated can comment on this situation.

Fair enough, I do appreciate you answering my questions. It's honestly just a little off putting. I'll probably just switch back to my old toothpaste soon and see how it goes. It feels a little uncomfortable to be honest. Otherwise, it's just.. meh.
