Just need to vent, I guess.

My mouth has been a depressing mess for ages. Finally I have hit the point I cannot ignore it anymore as a tooth just broke at the front of my mouth (right behind my canine tooth). I called and made an appointment - next Tuesday. I feel ill right now and trying to keep it together as best I can (which isn't working too well, I admit).

I don't know what to do, honestly. I fully expect the amount to be beyond my means. I half expect to be told my mouth is a wasteland (lol, I suppose) that can't be saved. I don't know. The cost terrifies me. I have only recently been working on pulling myself out of years of depression (part of the reason my mouth is so bad is because I just didn't. care. :() and getting back to finding meaningful work and I don't have much to spend. Dental insurance never gets anyone very far.

I don't know. It's so hard not to feel despondent. My mouth has been one thing that has held me back for ages. Not much else I can do but hope it can be salvaged. Does anyone have any suggestions to keep my broken tooth area clean until then? I don't want an abscess on top of this mess.

First, welcome! I'm not sure if you've been able to poke around the forum at all, but you'll see that there are lots of folks here with stories very similar to yours. Making that first appointment is often the most difficult part and you did it!!! I've been around the forum for a while now and can say that what people hear when they are finally able to muster the courage to go is hardly ever nearly as bad as they anticipate. Even when it is, most people feel relieved to have a plan and know what they need to do to move forward with getting their dental health back in order.

We're here to support you! Please let us know how it goes on Tuesday or feel free to post here before then for more support.

I'm glad you worked up the courage to go to the dentist. I'm sure you will have a better experience than you've imagined and I'm sure everything will be fine :)

Well you should get it fixed because it will help you and not be depressed. Its sad that sometimes people dont understand what somebody is going threw and it helps to have a friend to talk to. I was the same way I didnt want to go then I finally went I was like what a relief .
Hope it works out
