I have an ongoing issue with a ll molar that started thanks to poor (verging on incompetent) treatment by a previous dentist that eventually resulted in root canal. The other option was extraction, which now wish I’d taken as it would be over and done with. The trauma of the rt, coupled with the astronomical cost meant I kept putting off getting the tooth crowned.
In April the RT filling popped out, and I think some of the tooth came away with it. I am now with a new dental practice and an amazing dentist who has tried everything she can to save the tooth. Unfortunately, in early July, half of it broke away from below the gum line. She removed the broken section and filled the gap in the hope it would survive for ‘another year’ at least. The filling came out 4 days ago when I was cleaning my teeth, and I am just now packing it with commercial dental cement as I now don’t want to face the prospect of an extraction.
So, my question is, can I carry on indefinitely with a broken ll molar, the missing bit is at the rear of the tooth, and because it has no nerve it doesn’t hurt.
