Sore teeth including root canal/ capped tooth re grinding

A tooth that has had a root canal is not "dead". It is stillconsidered a "live" or vital part of your body. There are nerve endings that are present in the jawbone underneath thetooth, as well as nerves that attach from the jawbone to thetooth. This is why there is still feeling in a tooth that has had root canal thera.

I was told that a rct'd tooth is dead as it has no nerve, the tissue around it isn't so any infection around it would give the false feeling of having pain in the tooth, but it will be the gums around it that are in pain.

No, I am not a dentist but found that on a question and answer website regarding rct'd teeth. It went on to say the tooth still has vitality because of the gum, and ligaments. It's very confusing to me. My tooth isn't aching this afternoon, tho the last molar is still tender. I'm so hard on my teeth. Wish I'd known about night guards and bruxism many years earlier.

Yes me too, I think I could have saved a couple of teeth at either side of my mouth. But we know now. A rct'd tooth is a dead tooth as the nerve has gone. It is the same with a tooth where the nerve has died without a rct.

I think as long as they aren't cracked and are still firmly supported that is why they can be kept by us with a rct and a crown for strengthening. It is a last chance saloon but I have had one for nearly 30 years. I hope I get to keep it a lot longer as well.

I tend not to trust things read on the internet unless it is on this site as a lot of stuff is written for sensationalism and not based on fact.
