Before I have a tooth extraction next Wednesday I will obviously be in some pain (having 3rd and 2nd upper molar roots extracted). If I believe right the nerve will be removed, so why will I feel pain after if there is no nerve? Im more curious as to the reason behind this. Thank you.

For the same reason you would have pain/discomfort after any invasive medical procedure. Basically, tissue inflammation. Add to that, your gums, the socket and the jaw bone still have nerves and they will have been through the mill.

The way my dentist explained it, even though tooth extraction is common and done all over the world countless times each day, it's still a surgical procedure.
