two teeth sensitive around gumline

two of my teeth that are close to my right cheek, one on top and one on bottom, has a sensitive spot that is near the gumline. is this becuase of receding gums? My gums are not swollen nor do they bleed if i brush on them. that means it shouldn't be gum disease that is causing the gum receding right? i have been told that i brush too hard, what are some ways to fix that? how do i know if i am brushing too hard?

can also be a normal part of ageing and unrelated to brushing.

perhaps you've just inherited sensitive teeth. A friend of mine has had a mouthful of them since her early twenties. Or it may be that your sensitivity is limited to these two teeth and may subside over time.

Ive noticed that sensitivity comes and goes. So it must be related to changes in the diet or body.

The dentist can put some paint on the sensitive area and this can help it die down for a few days.

Actually, I'd expect a bit of gum changes in somebody your age, there's a thing called gingival maturation that kicks in around 18-20, the gums tend to shift their position slightly and may well expose a wee sensitive part of the root.

As Annie says, it's easily treated.
