Hello

The most common phrase thats repeated here, or words to the effect are:

Make an appointment/go to the dentist.....its never as bad as you think its going to be.
Well, what if it IS as bad as you think its going to be, and just like you dreamed in your head, you do need lots of really invasive treatment, you did hate the drilling sound, you did feel pain, and you know you have umpteen more of these appointments to go.

What do you do?

what if you simply cannot, under any circumstance, handle being injected, drilled, root canalled etc.

What do you do at that point? what options do you have left other than end your life?

The answer is sedation, years ago, after not seeing a dentist for nearly 18 years, id racked up a long list of procedures i needed doing. I explained that it just was never going to happen and they suggested sedation... Best thing i ever did!
Although you not completely knocked out, you dont know anything about it other than the occasional 'memory', which you really dont care about... Its loverly.
Only thing they wont do im told is root canals, but o had one this eeeek, and honestly, it was fine (never thought id say that)

@deano85

The problem i have with sedation, and ill try to explain as i have before here but its hard, is this:

If i was sedated for the procedures, i know what the procedures involve from having some of them non sedated.

Hence on an almost daily basis, i relive how bad being injected feels to me, i relive how horrendous the sounds are to me, and having whatever it is that makes your filling in my mouth makes me sick, almost constantly, pretty much daily.

Im hugely sensitive to pain, pressures, noises and textures. Pressure might as well be pain, theres no difference when I’m anxious, fuelled with adrenaline and petrified. The noises to me equal pain, I can still hear all of it. And because ive done all this whilst non sedated, afterwards i will relive the experience of being non sedated again anyway, (even though in that instance i was sedated).

So im stuck really.

My only way out is not going to the dentist which i actually like as my life as a whole feels great. But i dread with every fibre the day something eventually goes wrong. Im ducking ut of all my checkups because i dont want to go, it spoils my life.

Suicide is a genuine option because to me, its far preferable than going to a dentist. Far preferable.
