hi everyone! Well I took another big step today and went to the dentist to get molds done for my top and lower partials! The mold on the bottom was easy but the top was a little more difficult! Now I wait 3 weeks and then extractions and immediate partials will be placed. I have come so far in the last month. A year ago I was crying my eyes out full of shame and fear! I have a wonderful dentist who is so kind to me! But now what should I expect to experience with partials! Will I be able to speak correctly, eat food? I know my life is going to change but I have to conquere this I have not smiled in at least 20 yrs. anyone have advice or a success story?? Thank you everyone!

Hi lauralou I am glad it went ok for you getting your molds done, so happy when i saw your post I am getting my bottom molds done Tuesday for 4 bottom front teeth (you kindly replied to my desperate post about a week ago) I am going to follow your post also for some much needed advice on partials

Hi when will you be getting your partial? I will go on oct 27th, so if your appt is before mine I may be asking you for advice !? I'm glad we have this site and looks like you and I will be on a similar journey together! But im also getting extractions on the top eventually and having both a lower and top partial! Oh well I will be so happy to smile and laugh again! Let's stay in touch ok?

This site and the people on here are amazing and is the soul reason I have got this far (I quit smoking 5 and half year's ago with a forum ?)my extractions are at 8.30am on 3rd November then I go to my dentist at 12.30 same day to have immediate partials, I changed dentist couple weeks ago as the original one seemed reluctant to do immediate dentures and being left with 4 missing teeth for 2-3 months wasn't excepable so I changed dentist (yay go me) what happened with your bottom mold ? I have wobbly bottom teeth that is what is raising my fear right now

Hi my teeth are a little wobbly on the bottom but we're fine with the mold. It was my big fear also that teeth would come out! Ask the dentist what he thinks I'm not sure how loose your teeth are but the dentist has done a ton of these molds so check with him/her before hand. I too quite smoking with an on line support group 12 yrs ago. Boy that tartar really did a number on my teeth and I probably could have saved them had I not had such a fear of the dentist, but oh well now I'm moving forward and that's what matters. Good for you for standing up and switching dentist. Your very brave and remember no matter what we should be proud that we have finally faced our fears, I will keep you posted looks like I'm first oct 27th so I will let you know how it goes!! Blessings!

Hi lauralou my appointment for molds is looming, tomorrow at 10.55am I am surprisingly ok compared to other times I have had appointments, normally I have obsessive thoughts 24/7 for best part of a week, this time it crosses my mind scares me then passes, phew. how long did your molds takes to do? how long were h in your appointment? still worried loose teeth may come out

Molds were really quick! The appt. took about 10-15 minutes! Make sure you communicate your concern about your teeth getting stuck in mold! Like I said I was really worried about that to especially one of my bottom loose teeth and a top one that is ready to break because it's rotten at the gum line. Ugh! But really the molds were simple no problems at all! Let me know how your appt goes I'm sure it will go well. Another step closer to a happy smile! Blessings to you!!

Hi lauralou I have just walked out the dentist, molds done and I still have ALL my teeth, yay so happy and yes it was easy, (i did gag twice and dribble but that was still ok) I thought of you all the way through over and over in my head saying "lauralou did it so can I " thank you for your support the difference it has made to me is emmense

I'm soooo glad everything worked out!! Glad we can lean on each other through this process! I will let you know how my appt for extractions and partials go on oct 27! Congrats to you on completing the next step of your journey!! I will keep you posted! Blessings to you!!

Thinking of you for tomorrow lauralou

Thank you but my dentist office had to reschedule my appt to Monday oct 31 due to a death in his family! I'm a big Halloween person and usually have people over that day not sure how I'm going to pull this off but my appt is at 8:45 am so maybe I can get some rest after and still enjoy Halloween a little with family! My husband is the only one that knows about this procedure! I'm a very private person and I don't want anyone judging me! As much as I love my friends and family they still love to gossip and I really don't want any drama with them knowing about my teeth. So I guess I'm still dealing with shame ugh!! but the good news is I'm moving forward, I will keep you posted and thank you for your kind thoughts!

Hi I had 4 front teeth removed and a partial put in and everything worked out fine. The partial looks great and the numbing is wearing off now I feel a little sore but not bad at all. I do have to remove them tonight and rinse and that makes me a little nervous because I heard it's painful but I will get through it! How are you doing?
