Hi all,

I hope to get braces soon, I'm just wondering is it best to wait till my wisdom teeth come down, I could be waiting awhile though?

Thanks.

Hi.

In my experience, it depends on your age. How old are you?

I got braces as a teenager and they didn't wait for my wisdom teeth to come in or mention taking them out.

I ended having to get adult braces because my wisdom teeth came in later, in my 20s. This time my doctor said to take out all 4 wisdom teeth (2 were impacted) and 4 other teeth, because my mouth was over crowded.

I think it really depends on the individual case. I'd ask your dentist and orthodontist and see what they recommend.

Good luck and keep us posted.

JJ

Thanks for your reply, I'm in my early 20's. Maybe it'll be best just to wait until they are all down ( hopefully they will be ok)

It's really hard to say. Some wisdom teeth never come down, but they start causing problems. Those are the impacted wisdom teeth. In my case they started causing crowding and made other teeth crooked.
