I have a consultation with an oral surgeon next week to discuss splitting my wisdom teeth extractions into two appointments. I guess I want to know if it’s normal to schedule the surgery a few weeks later and is it strange to split appointments up? I have a vacation the week after my appointment and would like to push the date after, maybe two-three weeks after my consultation. This office is only open on tuesdays so I wonder if regardless I’ll have a few weeks until surgery?

Yes it's normal practice. Gives time to check over x-rays etc and also for the patient to reflect on the advice given about pros and cons of surgery.

No it isn't strange to remove them in 2 stages, especially if local anaesthetic is being used.

Thank you Gordon! I am glad I won’t raise an eyebrow with my surgeon when I mention splitting up the appointments. I will use local to save money so glad that’s even more common for them. I did tell the receptionist but I’m not sure if she wrote it in my file or not. I feel less anxious now.
