I’ll try and keep this brief.
I feel like a slave to my fear. I attended the dentist about 2 weeks ago and was informed my wisdom tooth had a hole in it and needed to be extracted. I saw the x ray and it look very crumbled. Due to extreme fear, I was referred for IV sedation at one of their other dental practices in another city.
Unfortunately as I have high blood pressure (which I didn’t know about) they advised me that it couldn’t go ahead. So I rang my original destint who has now referred me to the hospital. The trouble is I have nobody to attend this with me meaning I will likely need this done without IV.
…. but I’m terrified. I feel caught between the devil and the deep blue see. I know it needs to come out. It’s a top left wisdom tooth and he said that it looked like a straightforward root but if the tooth cracked they would have to cut it (heightening my anxiety). Even a simple filling fills me with dread. I hate needles and have a very low pain threshold.
I really have no idea what to do. I can’t just let it go on and on like this. I’m scared and have no support network to assist me. I keep looking at YouTube videos and it looks like a horrendous procedure.
How long does it take ? It’s crippling me with dread, I’ve been bed rotting at home and I’m really quite depressed about it.
If I do have this done the normal way, what can I expect ? I’ll probably have a melt down if I have to do this without any type of sedation.
I’m scared !!

to DFC.. We are glad you are hear. Fear of extractions and wisdom teeth extractions are a very common and real thing, there are so many factors. You are not alone know that. But give yourself So much credit because you are dealing with this in the first place taking steps, coming hear, trying to find answers. This is all huge and courageous!
