My pain started two weeks ago with toothache in a chipped tooth at the bottom front area of my mouth, over the next few days of the bank holiday the pain got worse until an abcsess started to grow at the front of my jaw and behind my bottom teeth.

I went to a dentist last Thursday and they removed the the nerve and pus and put a tempory filling in the tooth and gave me antibiotics.
Over the next few days I was still in agony do I went to see another emergency dentist on Saturday who removed the filling and tried to drain the tooth but said she had difficulty becasue the canal was not straight so she re filled the tooth and told me to go back to the other dentist on Monday to have it remvoed.

I went back to the first dentist who said they couldnt remove the tooth because of the sweeling, she said I was run down by lack of sleep and food and that my stomach hurt because I was talking too many pain killer (which was true) and that why I had coldsores. She removerd the temporary filloing left the tooth on open drainage.

Now I do feel better as I am able to sleep and my appertite is better, but I still have pain and the abscess does not seem to want to go away, it has been a week since i started taking antibiotic and saw the first dentist.

The front of of my jaw is numb and achey and behind my bottom teeth/ under my tounge feels hard and achy. I dont know what I can do as I can't lance it as it isnt a big blister. I am using plenty of mouthwash and re dressing the hole with cotton wool and taking antibiotics, due to run out soon. Im told I can't have the tooth out until the infection clears, yet it seems to have come to a stand still! I have heard rinsing with warm salty water should encourage it to open and empty pus, yet I dont want to do it if it will get worse. Can anyone give me any advise as Im going on holiday for two weeks on Sunday and I am dreading considering my situation.

Try the hot salty mouthwash and ask the dentist to try taking it out. The worst that'll happen is that it won't freeze, I know that sounds dreadful, but actually you can tell if it's going to be a problem before there is any more than slight discomfort.
I think this "You can't take teeth out where there's acute infection" thing is a bit over stated.

I wish I could but they just won't do it. Gum area behind my tooth is very sore today just when I thought It might have been improving, so you think salty water might do it. How often should I do it?

4 times a day seems a logical place to start.
