Are these dreaded cavities? (w/ pics)

I’ve never had a cavity in my life, and I brush twice daily. I recently had a bad sore throat and while looking at my tonsils discovered that my molars were black in the center. I’m very alarmed. Are these bad cavities or stains? I do drink a lot of black coffee. Is it possible these marks are just blackened tartar or do I have dreaded tooth decay? I know I am overdue for a dentist appointment. It has been over a year. Thanks in advance your reply.

You can't tell from a photo, you need to physically examine the tooth and possibly take x-rays. Sorry.
