I will be seeing my dentist about this issue as it is kind of new, and I would like to think my oral hygiene is excellent.

With that said, I have a hard time flossing my back molars. So I resorted to floss picks, but sometimes I can't get the floss in betwee n the very tight teeth. I either rip the floss, it gets stuck, and I can't debride the plaque efficiently.

My gums bleed especially when I floss (and sometimes for no reason at all)....I am wondering if I am not making my problem worse by not flossing correctly.
Is this possible?

Is there anything other than this I can do to help prevent or reverse this issue?

thanks so much...

Don't feel you need to answer this, but the hormonal changes in pregnancy can start gums off bleeding more readily than normal.

Not all floss is the same, some are more flexible and some are less prone to shredding between teeth, it might be worth trying some different brands to see if you get on better with a different make. Also try waxed and unwaxed to see if that helps.

An appointment with a dental hygienist might be a good idea to get some one on one tuition as well.

Wow, thank you Gordon, that definitely sheds some light on the subject. I did think I was prego, in fact all signs pointing to that possibility but my fiance and I tested twice and both negative so I guess not. But I do find it odd b/c my gums never bled with flossing before, now all of a sudden they do. I would bet money on a hormonal imbalance somewhere. My "lady doctor" is convinced I have too much Progesterone which can swell a woman up....although I am underweight.... I'm bloated 24/7. lol

I keep thinking I am not flossing correctly. I think I am. Hygienest told me I am. but who knows. my body is weird.
