can antibiotics mask a problem

I went to the dentist today and was told that I have no cavities despite having had a sensitive tooth and another molar (with a filling in it that had exposed the root years ago but hadn't killed it) that bothered me briefly a year ago. The molar had a dull ache in the centre that felt like the filling was collapsing inward but the molar showed no visible change. That only lasted about a week and the pain suddenly stopped. I didn't mention that when I was at my appointment today (didn't think of it because it hasn't bothered me for a year) but I did mention the cold sensitivity on a tooth with a black stain and still got the all clear.
I just completed a course of antibiotics the other day (for a sinus infection) and wonder if it is possible that the antibiotics could hide an infection? Or should it be visible even with no active infection. If that molar had died a year ago would it show on an xray even after antibiotics? Just looking for some reassurance

I'm referring to two different teeth. The cold sensitive one is on top and the one that had the pain in the centre and the root exposed is on the bottom of the same side. I wasn't very clear in my post.

Antibiotics for a different reason can possibly mask dental problems. Some abscessed teeth do not show much on an xray so other tests have to be done to try to confirm their status. Usually every bit of information can help with a diagnosis so if you had mentioned the molar with the ache that stopped, the dentist might have investigated that one a bit further.
