mill, are you asking about the total cost of getting an implant, the cost of the implant placement, or just the cost of the actual crown itself?
If you mean just the cost of the actual crown itself, then my (very reputable) dentist looks to charge the same as the cost of a regular crown - so a few hundred pounds - my recent crown cost £750.
2k+ is more like the cost of the entire thing, including the implant itself.
If you have an implant already in place but there's other work to do to fit the crown, then obviously there would be additional costs there. There may also be a charge for the time involved in fitting the crown.
