Hi again
I just wanted to say im thinking of you im sure it will all go really really well for you but do let me know how it all goes i could do with some good news! Keep focusing on why you want to do this imagine pain free teeth !! also think of something you can treat yourself to because you know you will totally deserve it !!

best of luck
emma :)

Thanks emma, it seems strange that im trying to give support and advice to others when I'm anxious myself.
As for treating myself, we had our gas bill in this morning £606! Then my dental treatment on top lol
I will be thinking of pain free teeth and that I have to do it to report back on here lol

Well, we leave tomorrow to travel up to the hotel and my stress level is at 6 on the scale. we are calling on a relative with a birthday present on the way, so that will pass a couple of hours.
gawddddd nows what I'll be like tomorrow night :-(

Hdf2- Not sure of the time difference between you and I (I'm in is US) but I just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you this morning and sending you "wished for a good expereince".

I have learned these past few weeks that most of my fear was just "thinking" about the worst case scenario. Once I began "thinking" about these bad things, they just kept growing in my head until I lost the courage to go. Now that I "change the channel" when I begin to think these thoughts, my courage has returned.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing.;D

thank you Cherio,
Its wednesday 9.30pm at the moment here and we are settled in the hotel. my appt is 9.15 tomorrow morning :-(
Mike is going to take his time getting me relaxed etc, and expects to start the sedation around 10.00am and by 10.30- 10.45 it should be all over and done with. Wish it was this time tomorrow night.

i will post tomorrow when I'm compus mentos lol

Hi hdf2,

Remember me?

You helped me on here ever so much in the past and I know you were moving house and looking for a new dentist last time I heard from you.
Now it's my turn to help you with my sincerest good wishes for you for tomorrow.
It's such a bind this dental fear isn't it?
My next appointment with my dentist (unless I have a flare up) is November time and I shall start counting the months, weeks and days off before very long.
I now know that I will never be free of my dental phobia and how on earth I psyched myself up to get the last lot of work done, I will never know.

At least I can say to myself that I got through the last lot of work and so I should somehow be able to get through whatever dental work needs doing next time.

YOU CAN SAY THAT TO YOURSELF TOO - YOU HAVE MANAGED TO GET THROUGH A GREAT DEAL IN THE PAST AND YOU WILL MANAGE THIS NEXT VISIT TOO.

All good wishes to you for tomorrow.

of course i remember you, hello stranger :-)

yep, we moved down to lancashire and ive found a dentist in Glasgow lol. Couldnt wait any longer for an appt with an nhs dentist down there and didnt want to wait to be referred for iv sedation again. So, I had a chat with Dr Mike and he is my new dentist! It ust means that we have a weekend away when i need anything done!
he has been sooo good, answering emails, questions etc and we chat on the fone which always leaves me feeling quite relaxed!

However, i just know i will be as anxious as ever in the morning. nearly there tho.
Thanks for your good wishes and its nice to see you back!

I've had mine done today. Apart from the pain afterwards you always get with extractions, it was a good experience - at least what I can remember of it.

Good luck, it'll be great.

Thank you graham
And well done to you!

Best wishes HDF2 [smiley=hugging.gif]and Graham pleased to hear your I/V sedation went well [smiley=jumping.gif]- shame you had to wait so long when so nervous though.

Thanks brit,
Im gonna try getting some sleep now, but, like before, I may be back on here in the wee small hours lol

Well it's now 9:25 am, thinking of you [smiley=hug.gif]

Hope everything goes well for you as it did for me. IV really is the way to go.

:yay:

Well, its nearly 10.am and you will have been there a while now so I hope it is going well for you.

I am thinking of you, good luck.

Holly

best wishes

emma

Thank you all for the good wishes.

OMG I DID IT AGAINNNNNNNNNN

I even arrived early for my appt and Mike was there waiting for me. he asked if I wanted a coffee first but i said no,so we just got on with it lol.
We had a natter and he took my bp.....coudlnt believe this, it was lower than it was last week at the doctors! I sat in the chair and he inserted the canular and slowly started to give the sedation.......... I swear.................10 secs if that and I was out of it lol

I DO remember mike giving the locals but, he applied them so slowly that it didnt matter!

i had more treatment than we thought.............. one lower back tooth removed and . upper teeth removed (inc 4 front ones) and a denture fitted. The other 3 upper teeth couldnt be saved after all beacuse of gum disease/bone loss, but Mike had plans already in place and had a partial and full denture made for me just incase!

i was back at the hotel around noon, and i have slept. Now just sipping some soup. and will take pain meds as the numbness has wore off. There is still quite a bit pf bleeding from my front teeth but im sure that will settle soon.
OHHH and my speech seems ok so far! ( touches wood lol)

thank you all for the support
xxxxxxx

I will be seeing Mike in the morning again before we leave for home

Wow! That's great, hun! I'm so glad you were able to go through with this. Mike seems like a really great guy so it's definitely worth the trip! I suggest cream of potato soup, it's yummy. There are chunks of potato in it so that might be difficult to eat, but they are pretty soft (you could probably mash it up if you wanted to).

Well Done
I have been thinking about you today and checked back on 3 times in case you had updated im so pleased all went well you totally deserve a big pat on the back treat yourself even a hot relaxing bath should do it ! When you say you felt the locals go in do you mind me asking did it bother you ? was it painful at all ? im trying to get as good an idea as how iv works as possible !!

Well done again
hope you dont get too much discomfort later
just think its all over for you now !!

best wishes

I'm glad it went so well for you. It was really worth the while travelling like you did to get to see someone who could really help you in the way that DrMike has.

I hope you have a good journey home tomorrow.
