Thanks Nat...that really helps alot. I'm not worried of what he might do (at least not tomarrow), because I know I can't do anything until mid August. I just do not want to hear bad news that I will worry about and ruin my vacation and business trip.

Glad you managed to get the sore to heal up - at least that's one less thing to worry about :).

Even if the news isn't so good, there isn't anything you can do about it until after your vacation and business trip (unless maybe you could get it sorted out before you go?), if it does turn out that you need more treatment, then maybe thinking of it as just another item on a list of things to do might help?

It might be that you just need time to let things settle down - don't forget you've had a lot of work done recently. In which case, a vacation is just what you need ;D!

Whatever happens tomorrow, we've all got our fingers crossed for you [smiley=hugging.gif].

Thanks Vicki...I just need to figure out my words. I am determined to tell him about the incisors and the pain they have caused me. I am sure I will cry if he doesn't take me seriously, or tries to talk about neuralgia again :'( (kind of emotional today :-/) I know that the incisors are the reason for the pain...I am positive of it. I ate some salad for lunch, and accidentally bit into a cucumber, now the teeth hurt. I just have to show him just how certain I am of it.

Good Luck with your Appt tomorrow ::) Hope all go well for you.

be yourself -

Great piece of advice 8-) - people are often frightened of making a fool of themselves, losing face, or fearing rejection, but often you'll find that others are very accepting once they know what is going on inside you - and the end result is much more positive than covering up (which only serves to confuse others...).

Just wanted to send warm hugs your way.

Sincerely, Melody

Does anyone know what time (British) freakouts appt is?

Hi :-/ Thank you all for the support. Well I am pretty upset and confused right now. :'( First he did take me seriously. He believes the problem is coming from the pressure that is coming down on that tooth. I have no bottom teeth on the left side, so he gave me my options for treatment to correct that.

First option is to put three implants in on the left side. He explained the procedure. The cost would be in the range of $9,000-$10,000 [smiley=scared.gif]

Second option is to crown the canine on the left, and the 2nd molar on the right. Then he would make a partial to attatch to those teeth. Because of the few teeth I have, there would be a metal plate in the middle to fit behind the front bottom teeth. The cost would be approx. $1200.00

Third option would be to do everything mentioned in option #2, plus insert three small screws on the left for the partial to attach to. That would add an additional $1000 to the price.

He said I didn't need to make my decision today, but soon, due to the fact that there is so much pressure on the remaining teeth. He also said that if that tooth gets any worse I should let him know. I have until Aug 21 to make my decision. I will be out of town, then he will be out of town. If the tooth gets worse, I have no clue when I will see him :-/ Maybe between vacation and trade show.

I am just really confused and upset. I really can't afford option #1, though if money wasn't an issue, that is the option I would choose. I really hate the thought of a metal plate behind my bottom teeth. Plus he doesn't think the tori will pose a problem with the partial, but????

If anyone has any insight into my delemma, I would truely appreciate it [smiley=ashamed.gif]

Sorry the news hasn't been good :(. I don't actually know the answer to your question (obviously option 1 sounds best, but if that's definitely out of the range price-wise...).
It might be an idea to copy and paste your questions to the Dentistry Questions section (you should probably mention that you are wearing an upper denture in case it makes any difference).

Well done for getting your point across [smiley=notworthy.gif]!

Thanks for the suggestion Lets...I did post a message to Gordon. I really didn't want to have more to worry about while on vacation, but I guess no luck. Maybe just getting away and being by myself will help me make a clearer decision. I am really worried that this incisor is going to cause problems while I am away. It has been hurting all morning, and usually by now it settles down (hurts first thing in the morning due to clenching), but it hasn't eased up at all :'( I just took some ibuprophen, maybe that will help :'(

Hi :) Just thought I would check in again, as I have had time to digest everything from my appointment.

Well at first I was a little out-of-sorts when I got there. I pulled into the parking lot and got nervous twinges in my stomach. When I arrived at the office, as I was signing in, I could see someone walking up front (out of the corner of my eye). I thought to myself. "Oh, please don't let it be him", but soon I heard Hi T...... how are you? It was him. So I politely said hi and had a seat. The receptionist kept paging the assistants to the front (they take patients to the room) and no one came. Finally the dentist came up and took me back himself [smiley=scared.gif] All of those things added up to being out of sorts.

I wasn't expecting to have a discussion on implants or partials...at least not today. If I knew I would had scheduled the appointment after my vacation, so I would not have to think about it over and over and over again.

I am really worried that my tooth isn't settling down. It settled down somewhat after I took some ibuprophen, however once that wore off the pain started all over again. I really hate going out of town with it hurting, but I am not going to allow my teeth to ruin my vacation.

If I still have pain when I return, I will try to get in to see him, before I go to Las Vegas. :'(

Im sorry it wasnt good news as such, I know how hard it is paying for dental treatment, believe me when I say I cant believe that I have spent as much as i have to date!

perhaps taking the holiday, relaxing and just being yourself will help? I know it wont help the pain your in but I guess will give you a clearer head on which to think things through. I really hope your feeling better soon [smiley=hugging.gif]

Hi Nat...Thanks for the support. I talked to my sister, who is a dental assistant, and she said that with implants being out of reach financially, I should consider option #3. Bottom partials are typically harder to stabilize and with the screws in place the denture would snap on and off. She said it may be a little more costly now, but in the long run it will be worth it :-/

I have also googled the subject and they make partials sound just horrible :'( I didn't sleep much last night, between the worrying and the tooth aching. Worrying about the partial, and the tooth pain. I am so worried I will go away and have problems with it, then I am basically screwed...no dentists around there, and even if there were I would not see just anyone.

Well I have decided that if I go with option #3, I will ask for nitrous during the procedure. It will help for my jaw to be more relaxed. Even though the easiest and cheapest was would be option #2. I am terrified at the thought of putting screws in my jawbone [smiley=frightened.gif]

Best of luck tomarrow Nat 8-) I will be thinking about you [smiley=hugging.gif]

Hi Freakout
Sounds like a good plan. I thought 3 was the best if implants were out of the question. At least you now have an end in sight. Enjoy your holiday.

Hi Brit...thanks for the input. I am leaning towards #3, but he just hit on that topic, or I was so upset and confused when he got to that one that I didn't hear everything. The thought of putting screws into my jaw terrifies me [smiley=frightened.gif] though.

Right now I am more concerned with the tooth that is hurting. My sister said that if it is hurting at the end of my vacation, I should call before I get home, to see if they can get me in the day I return, giving me a little time to heal (if I need work on it) before I go on my business trip. In theory it sounds like a plan. I just hope it isn't necessary.
