Around 15 years ago I had to have root canal treatment for my right lower Molar.

In 2014 due to issues with my crown I had to have it repalced with a porcelain crown.

Ever since the new crown was fitted I have had 4 infections to the same tooth in the 2.5 year period.

The most recent infection occured on Saturday and it has been the worse out of the 4 times in terms of pain...
I have been to the dentist and they have advised me on 2 options -

1. Go to a specialist, pay around £800 ans opt for re-root canal treatment (which the dentist believes there is a high chance of the tooth breaking)

2. Get the tooth extracted

Here is a pic of the crown and infection.

If I do get it removed, should I save up and get an implant as I am not to keen on a bridge that involves shaving down the adjacent teeth.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I'm getting an implant done after 4 years of waiting...also wasn't wanting a bridge. Personally I'm freaking out about the whole upcoming appointment. Wish I hadn't waited. Before you decide you probably want to talk to the dentist about what sort of timeline you have once it is pulled to get the implant before you potentially need more work to make the site suitable for an implant.
