Dentist who don't mind standing while working

Hi Im looking for a great dentist in Chicagoland area, who works well with patients with phobias. My phobia is laying far back in the chair. I feel as if I can't breathe, so if there someone out there that could work me please respond to this thread. I have GEHA Dental Insurance.

I know it can be done but I don't think it is a solution. If I was in your place I would first need dentist that can
deal with me and has patience and of course i need to trust my dentist. Chairs are very adjustable so dentist can start from pretty upright position and lower as you get more relaxed in chair. Point is to fight that fear not succumb to it.

I would suggest finding a dentist who you trust even if s/he doesn't stand during exams, cleanings or procedures. I also have a fear of lying back in the chair. As soon as I start to get lowered I panic. During cleanings my hygienist has me lay flat but puts the chair as high as it will go so shes standing next to me. That helps. My dentist is short so he prefers to sit down. When he's not in my mouth he has me sit up and he knows that talking helps me keep my mind off my fears so he takes extra time to make sure im comfortable. He lets me sit up whenever I need to and gives me many breaks. If you could find a dentist whose willing to do those things, it may be just as good as finding one who is willing to stand. Knowing that the person who's working in your mouth is giving YOU the power to say 'stop, I need a break', may be all you need. Then you know you can get up whenever you want and your not trapped. I hope you find a dentist who will work with you and for you.

I agree to find someone you trust. As to sitting upright all dentists were trained treating patients while the dentist is sitting and the patient is laying back for the last 50 years. It is such a difficult adjustment to make and you lack fine motor control with an upright change that I wouldn't treat someone that way.

The dentist offered in the reply above is not located in Chicagoland area, unfortunately they are all the way down in Florida??
