I had three teeth extracted and implants done that are now healing. Going back to my dentist afterwards they took x-rays of all my teeth. Turns out there are six cavities to fill (not even sure that was just one side) and one tooth she can't save and will need to be extracted as well.

There was talk about a root canal and possible use of a laser and how one tooth could be the most uncomfortable to treat since the cavity is close to my nerve (are they unable to numb your nerves). Does anyone know how that laser works?

Also had two teeth already missing that they'd look into replacing at some point. Appreciate how thorough they are but it really hit me how long this will take. I'm guessing at least 4 visits to sort out the cavities etc. With one more teeth that will get extracted I'll probably be looking at more implants.

Before I get the implant crowns probably want to go through some teeth whitening. As I was going away my dentist said, we'll have this all done next year. With it just being February that seemed like such a long time. I'm not sure if she misspoke or they're spreading it out so I don't go over my annual delta insurance coverage limit.

I'm sure I will be happy once its all done (have neglected my teeth for at least a decade) but the amount of work and expense is getting me down. Anybody been in this situation? I don't want to give up on it now I've come this far. Thanks!

Just focus on each appointment as it crops up, as you say it has taken at least 10 years for you to be at this stage so it's not too long to get it sorted, I have been 13 months so far with hopefully 3 appointments left to go, it's worth the wait. :)
