Doctors what can I use on sore spots?

Doctors, would it be a problem to use vaseline or some other jel to cover sore spots as I can't get to my dentist for a few days and I need to wear my denture. It is painful to put in or take out. I have a cold sore on my lip and the dentist doesn't want to see me until it is healed. So I have to deal with this for a while. Do you have any suggestions as to what else I can do?

Tell your dentist to stop being a wimp and adjust your denture for you!

Some vaseline might help the sore spots a bit, I suppose, better would be stuff called Orabase, you might be able to get that from a pharmacy.

Thanks Doctor, I will get some tomorrow (orabase)
I also thought, my dentist should see me, he does wear gloves so I don't see why it is a problem, and the cold sore is starting to scab.
Today the sore spot was a little better as long as I didn't try to chew.
