Does getting a dental filling hurt ?

I just had my RCT on my front tooth done last week. My endo. advised me to have a crown on it , and for the time being he will fill it. The tooth adjacent to the root canal-ed tooth had also chipped off , but did not require a root canal. I am getting that tooth filled too. Will it hurt without anesthetic ? Only a small part of the tooth is chipped (please see image below. The front tooth on the right is root canal-ed and the one on the left chipped).

Update - I had the filling done yesterday. It was completely painless. The only pain is keeping the mouth open for a long time . I really trusted my endo. He is just awesome. Till now he hasn't used any anesthetic and still I felt very comfortable.
