wait they have to cut my gums open again for abutement placement! i dont want tha....why didn't they tell me that!!! i'll never heal twice and that's more weeks of meds! and never running again

They do? I thought after the implant healed they just cement a crown on it. I didn't know you had to go through that again, but then I know very little about implants. Unfortunately I have become an expert on bridges :(

I have everything crossed for you that it all goes well and you have speedy healing.

Best advice I can give u is get prepared before and after you're appointment
New movies, aloe socks, pudding, whatever makes you happy
I had oral surgery six days ago, I'm doing okay stitches in all.
You will be fine. Just relax.

they put a healing cap on the gums heal over the top i guess and then they cut them again for the abutement let that heal for two weeks then the crown. i just don't trust my body to heal.

the idea of missing any workout or having to be sendintary feels me with ansolute terror. I feel like i never will be well enough to return to runningbor tumbling. sure my reg dentist said i might be able to run the next day but that is banking on nothing going wrong...on my oral hygiene regime not hurting it...on me not being petrified of food and drinks other than water for a week.

in fact i find it totally laughable that these implant offices suggest dairy and sugar filled items for first foods um sureeee sugar feeds bacteria and dairy promotes mucus no thanks.

crap i just read something that pretty says no runningbor high impact workouts for months that's not an option
and what about that mouthwash i can't do peridex it stains and kills good bacteria too. therefore tartar build up increases no no no

You should quit reading. everyone is different. maybe some people have issues that would make them unable to run or work out but that doesn't mean you will. I'm sorry they have to cut your gums again. But you healed before and you will heal again.

is peridex that blue stuff? I had a prescription mouthwash after I was treated for gum disease. I don't remember the name of it but it stained my teeth and even my tongue but it wore off my tongue when I quit using it and they were able to clean the stains off my teeth at my regular cleaning.

let's hope i heal ...i must have missed the memo on the second incision and stitches ugh im stuck now but that serms like so much trauma on one srea and i worry becausecmost of my crowns have gaps where the gums have pulled away. i don"t trust them to heal over this foreign body because of that or a second.

and yes it must be that it has blue dye in it...i think i will havecto stick with salt water and maybe a regular peroxide mixture i don't think i would be able to go to work with blue teeth and tongue...i work with the public i would be so self concious of someone seeing...just like i am with anything...it took me 4 months to look in the mirror and think my face looked normal after my wisdoms were out. I really hope he doesn't prescribe it. i don't eat or drink anything non organic or with dye and fake sugars and it has all those :( sure i'm not swallowing it but some does get absorbed another effect it has is increased tartar. i get so annoyed by it i pick it out with a safety pin.

That is crazy that they would prescribe something that causes more tartar build up. no wonder they wanted me to have cleanings every 3 months.

I think you would be fine with a salt water rinse, it is very soothing and promotes healing.

You are young and in good health, you will heal fine. I think a lot of the people who have trouble after already have medical conditions or they are smokers or elderly.

i truly hope you are right . im not sure young is the right category 34 over here about the time bone and gums start receeding.

That is young to me, and it is young as far as medical dental procedures go. If I was your age I would have considered an implant too. I was 47 when this nightmare started and they broke my tooth. I'm 49 now. I figured I did not really need a restoration that was going to last me 50 years since I won't be alive to need it lol. I was fine with the thought of having to replace a bridge once in my lifetime in maybe 15 years or so. Of course had I known it would get botched twice and that I would be getting it done twice in a month and 3 times in a year I may have just chose to keep my empty space.

34 is young! a lot of people with problems from implants are over 50 and smokers or diabetics with circulation problems and stuff.

well inofficially unemployed

Oh no, really sorry Tiger! ((hugs))

I'm so sorry! On a practical note, if you currently have dental coverage through your job, you can COBRA the dental separately from medical (if you decide you don't want medical). Dental is usually a reasonable cost to COBRA.

Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear that. ((((hugs)))))

How are you doing Tiger?

This week has been hell. I'm not even sure i should be doing this. My work was sold twice in the spacecof two hours. we were all fired then given 8 hours notice to attend a meeting the next morning an hour away to be rehired by Gold's. That was a clusterfuck. onboarding took 5 hours plus driving. no one showed the night before like they were supposed to so i stayed unpaid because i can't just leave not my nature. And until i see paperwork that officially says i'm hired i don't trust this.
On top of that someone came knocking at my door last night to sue me directly for an accident that happened 2+ years ago. i don't even know what to do.

And i can't breathe although other than when i lay down the drip in my throat has gone but really wtf. I've spent the week in either tears or sleepless. Not sure if it's that or what but i'm really sure it's going to screw this whole thing up.

So sorry Tiger, that's a lot to carry all at once ((hugs))

Well, first off, if I'm understanding this correctly then it sounds like you will have a job after all? I hope that works out for you x

The best thing to do in this sort of situation is to break it down into little steps. Don't try to deal with it all at once, you can't, and you will drown in it if you try to. But what you *can* do is deal with each thing in turn.

So, focus on today's appointment and for now just consider that: do you want to go ahead and do it today? Would it be easier on you to postpone to a better time for you, or would that just leave it hanging over you to get bigger? Is it better to get it done and out of the way? These are questions only you can answer. Do what is right for *you*

Set everything else aside, there's none of it that has to be done today. Just concentrate on today, one step at a time.

If you decide to go ahead with it, then once you've decided that, just aim to turn up. That's it. You can take the rest as it comes x

Right here with you

thanks Tink...it's over. i guess no nerve damage...pretty sure i can feel all my face. can't sleep but that 's more to do with my stuffy nose andthe idea of nightmares meh.

Hey, you did it! Well done. Really, I mean it, that's a huge thing!

Rest up a bit, be kind to yourself, and once you feel up to it, drop past and tell us more about how it went. First of all, look after you though x

ummm i already lost a stitch? is that bad? it's been 2.5 days.
