Hi all,
I need to get a wisdom tooth extracted, filling in another tooth and a scaling/polishing. I have opted for IV sedation and so everything will be done in the same sitting. The scaling/polishing should not be deep scaling/root planing as I dont have serious gum disease yet, but it will still be pretty intense as I havent been to a dentist for a few years and there is a fair amount of tartar on a couple of my teeth. My upper wisdom tooth has grown out straight but has a cavity in it, so it needs to be extracted.
My dentist told me that all these three things could be done within 45 minutes! Now my questions are -
1.) is it true that everything can be done in such a short time? I have a fear she may just try to rush rush!
2.) i m now also getting worried if I can do everything under IV sedation? Will i gag up when debris/water from ultrasonic scaling instrument enter my mouth and throat because I would be sleeping?
I have found this forum very helpful in encouraging and motivating me in finally visiting a dentist, otherwise I probably wouldn't have been able to. I hope someone can answer my queries and put me at further ease
