Long story short, I've had a nuisance of a tooth. I've had one root canal on it but the endo thinks one of the roots is fractured so it's infected again. He gave me two options, remove the root or remove the tooth and do an implant.
I'm going to go with the implant. He told me that he can do the implant the same day as extraction, as long as there is enough bone structure. I thought implants always were 2-3 months after extraction.
Has anyone gone through same day extraction / implants? How was your experience?
One other side question, my appointment isn't until the 29th (two weeks). He gave me a prescription for amoxicillin with one refill. Anyone know if it's OK to take the amoxicillin for about 3 weeks? It's 500mg, one pill a day. I just finished a round of amox this past Monday that was prescribed by my general dentist on the 4th.
The swelling has gone down considerably with the first round of amoxicillin and my level of discomfort is fairly low. I'm wondering if I should hold off on starting another round unless it starts to swell up again.
