The left side of my face has started swelling again two weeks after getting my wisdom teeth out. I had a hematoma on the left side, which was slowly getting smaller and smaller. A few days ago I started putting heat on it again to try to get it reabsorbed faster because it seemed like it was almost gone. After I started doing that my face started swelling again, now the swelling has become quite noticeable and its painful to open my mouth all the way. I've been putting ice on it and took some leftover ibuprofen from when I got my wisdom teeth out. That helped with the pain, but it didn't do anything for the swelling. Putting ice on it makes it hurt a little.

There is also this weird taste in my mouth now and it looks like there is a noticeable hole in the back right side of mouth that wasn't there a few days ago, but I read that having a hole is normal. I stopped using the syringe for a while because I thought everything was ok, but once I noticed the hole I used the syringe and a bunch of stuff came out on the right side. The left side has no hole at all.

Unfortunately, I am back at school and can't go to see the oral surgeon who removed my wisdom teeth because he's far away. I don't know what I should do though. Should I try to see a local dentist or oral surgeon? Should I go to the campus health services? Should I go to the hospital?

If you can, try calling your surgeon. They might be able to advise you on whats best to do. If thats not an option you should follow up with a local dentist or see what services are available on campus.

I went to the ER this morning. They had an oral surgeon on call, so he drained it. It was incredibly painful having it drained but I feel better now. He put a tube in so if anything else happens it should just drain into my mouth. He told me to follow up with a local oral surgeon and have the tube removed on tuesday or wednesday. Back to eating apple sauce and mashed potatoes for a few days I guess.

Went to my follow up appointment last week and the oral surgeon I saw said he didn't want to remove the drain and that it should just fall it by itself. Its been about 10 days since I got it put in, but it doesn't seem like its going to fall out anytime soon. I think the infection is mostly gone. I've finished the antibiotics the hospital gave me, but there is still a small lump in my cheek. I'm not sure if its from having the drainage tube or if theres still a small amount of pus in my cheek though. Should I try to get another appointment to see if I can have the drain removed?

Swelling after tooth removal is very common. It can be easily removed by taking anti-biotic.Dental treatment is necessary to keep your smile and teeth healthy and sweet.Go for it if necessary.

After getting the pus drained things were ok for a while. I still have the drainage tube in my mouth, but another lump seems to have developed. This time in my neck, near my cheek. It is starting to become pretty noticeable. Think I should probably go to health services tomorrow.
