First trip to the dentist

Hi. In just over a week I will be visiting the dentist for the very first time. At 27 years old, I’m embarrassed to say that and really nervous. My teeth aren’t that bad but do probably need a lot of work done in some areas. Can anyone give any information on what is likely to happen on my first visit?
