Full Mouth Impressions

I noticed Dentist doesn't leave the room. Last time I had impressions done..years ago..I tried my best to let him know..that slowly..steadily, some goo was seeping down my throat...to no avail for a while. Obviously i survived but I can't unsee that awful moment. He never wanted to discuss it, just said..'o yes. I see the problem'...

I'm terrified of those awful full Mouth Impressions. Can anyone relieve me
A bit?

@Susi They are really supposed to have the mixture a lot thicker than that. It shouldn't really run.

I just had full impressions done as I'm in the process of having teeth removed and will be getting dentures. The alginate was pressed into my teeth and there was no running whatsoever.

That must have been quite a worrying experience. I would leave some feedback with the dental surgery about that as it shouldn't be allowed for such things to happen.

@smirked thanks. Same for me. In Jan 2025..full mouth extractions..some molars hidden beneath gum line and impressions.

@Susi how do you feel about it other than the issue with the alginate running?

Well better now that I've read your post anyway. Something I gotta go thru. I'll feel trapped for a moment and notice how the dentist stays right there.

I'll take a mild sedative, I think..A few years ago when a family member suddenly died, my doc gave me a mild but wonderful sedative. I'll try and get that again before January

Taking a sedative will definitely help. If your nerves turn to anxiety then certainly sedation will be the best way.

@smirked thanks. It's so mild. But works on some subliminal level, I've noticed that. Hopefully the dentist will let me use Earbuds . There may be several attempts bcos I have a big mouth. As the clay hardens, I feel increasingly calmer. Ah well. It is what it is

@smirked I'm fine with it..I mean I'll feel a bit claustrophobic since even if I wanted to, for a short time..Im stuck
