Hi, apologies if this thread is in the wrong place, i'm currently 14 and i'm going to be getting braces soon. It was estimated that they would be on for 12-26 months (Long range
) anyway, i'm getting top and bottom metal braces and forsus springs. I know that they will hurt and be sore. I am not worried about the appointment, but rather social stuff. I know it may seem vain and conceited to be worrying about this stuff, but it's something we all have thought about at some point. Anyway, I am in high school and I know that most of the judgement will come from myself. But still, will I look like the odd ball out. Or 'metal mouth' (I hate that phrasing
) I will have them on throughout my freshman and sophomore year. Will this affect friendships-relationships? Probably a really silly and vain concern. But I have ALWAYS been super self conscious about my teeth, so much so that they caused me to have great anxiety and I have been seeing a psychologist for a long time about both that and some other personal issues. I have recently been getting over the negative body images with my teeth. But I am getting braces in less than a month and it's been pretty stressful, just waiting for them. Thanks for everyone who took the time out to read this
