Help - The Endodontist told me my molar is cracked and has to be pulled - I am going on Friday and I am soooo scared!! Anyone have molars pulled? I don't know what to expect!

Re: getting molar pulled on Friday  - Help!!

Hi Kristeena...I had multiple extractions with Nitrous (gas) and only felt pressure. Then I had to have one tooth extracted, this time with local only. I was totally terrified. I would be totally aware of what was happening this time. I was shaking like a leaf, I was so scared. The dentist came in and numbed my mouth. He let me rest for a time. Then he came back and made sure I was good and numb. He had the tooth out in less than 30 secounds. Again I only felt a little pressure, but no pain. My dentist even joked with me "Do you want your tooth" I said no, he said "no one wants thier teeth today" I was able to smile. All of this while he was removing the tooth!!!

Hope this helps. Keep us posted.

Yes but was this a molar tooth? That is why I'm scared, they seem like they would be more tough to pull than other teeth.

Yes...I only have one molar left. Actually the molars came out quite easily ;) I know you are really nervous and nothing I can say will take that away...believe me I have been there. Make sure you let the dentist know about your fears and concerns. A little reassurance from them can go a long way.

Hi kristeena7,

I too have had a molar pulled (well it was a wisdom tooth but for all intesive purposes it was a molar. 3rd molar i think?) Anyway for me too it was very quick. Took longer waiting for the novacain to set in than it did to pull the tooth. Pulling the tooth took about 30 seconds. A little pressure but no pain at all.

Although I know you will still be nervous I hope this info helps you feel at least a little less nervous about it.

Good luck with it.

Re: getting molar pulled on Friday  - Help!!

I have had 3 molars pulled and they didnt take long at all, I didnt even realise that two of them had been done, I was sedated but do remember one of them being taken out as it was quite difficult, not saying I was in pain or anything like that so dont worry! I just felt some tugging, more than the other 2, and then that was about it, I hope you feel at ease with everyones stories and I wish you luck

Re: getting molar pulled on Friday  - Help!!

Oh trust me I know exactly how you are feeling..
I looked around these helpful boards for weeks until I FINALLY got the nerve to get in that Dentist chair and have 1 wisdom tooth, one bottom front and a molar pulled..
I was a wreck, shaking my legs and talking the Oral Surgeons ear off before he even numbed me..
The numbing feeling for me was honestly the worse part, only because I HATE that feeling..I just kept taking sips of water so I was assured I was actually able to swallow lol..
Once he got in there they came out so easy, he was like, ONE done, Two done, Three done..BOOM..I was fully awake only numbed from the shots, once the shots wore off when I came home 40 min later, I just jumped in bed and got spoiled from the family lol.
This morning I was a bit sore and really not into doing much other then coming on here to share my story in hopes ALL of you just take that scary feeling and work with it, just keep telling yourself one way or another this has to be done.
I am a HUGE chicken with major panic attacks over this kinda stuff, so please believe me..Once the work is started you just are in a "drama" stage and it goes so fast.

I wish you all much luck and believe me, I took looked at my molar and thought Noooo way this sucker was coming out in 2 min. and I was wrong it came out in 30sec.

Good Luck
Dawney

Hi all

Sorry to hijack this post but i have a small question to ask.

I have just had a molar (Lower 6 and 7) and upper 6 extraction on Wed and i am getting a tooth kind of pain still in the area / side of the mouth where they did the extraction. Is this normal for a few days after. They teeth they pulled out was very large with big routes. How long will the pain last and has anyone else had the same probleme and pain.

Chris
