I went to the dentist hoping to have a cap on my tooth that has had root canal and to make it more stronger. At the moment it is all fine I have no pain and I also had a filling on a tooth that could be taken out but its not painful so everything would have been fine. However there is one big problem the cap that was fitted is gold, I had no clue that the cap would be gold and I was never asked as I would have chosen porcelain any day.
The cap is comfortable and but its gold and goes against my personal beliefs, I have always looked at people with gold teeth and swore I would never have one and now I do through no choice of my own. They are so unattractive and I feel nobody would take me seriously if they saw it thanks to stereotyping.
My question is would my dentist be understandable to replace it for a porcelain one? It was fitted in today and since I have bee beaten myself up that I should have asked what type of cap during the appointments when I had the impressions done. My dentist is really good one of the best in my opinion and I do not want to cause any friction between myself and him especially now that I have a phobia of dentists.
Any help would be appreciated.
