Gum recession treatment

Hi,

I'm 21 years old and have gum recession in my front teeth and two of my top teeth. I think this has been down to previous overbrushing and grinding(seems impossible to stop ).

It is not extreme but it is quite bad and especially my bottom front teeth look very skinny and pointed at the bottom.

Can the wisdom teeth coming in cause the teeth to receed? Mines are very tight and they're getting removed soon

Can I get gum grafting done on the NHS?

Trauma may cause gum recession but most likely having recession at such a young age is caused from a lack of firm gum around the teeth. There are two types of tissues in our mouth the thin mucosa that is on our cheeks and firm tissue that is found on the roof(palate) of of mouths. This same firm tissue is also found around all of our teeth and is necessary to prevent recession from function. Some people lack enough of any of this frim tissue around some of their teeth this result in gum recession and root exposure.
This root exposure can easily be treated by doing a connective tissue graft that can restore a normal band of firm tissue around your teeth that can last your lifetime.

Can I get gum grafting done on the NHS?

I have never heard of it being available on the NHS. I don't think many dentists are qualified to do it either (private nor NHS). In either sector you'd need to ask for a referral to a periodontist (gum specialist).

In Miami the charge is in the range of 900-1200$ In the USA dental insurance pays for part of this cost as it is considered medically necessary. A highly predictable procedure.
