I had a wisdom tooth pulled about 14 hours ago and I had a few questions. The extraction site still looks really bloody which is about right. I do have one question. It feels like some of the blood clot has fallen out cause I can feel it in my mouth on other teeth. Should I assume that this is just old parts of the blood clot and I can end up rinsing it out after 24 hours?

Also another question that I'm going to edit in is.

How long should I pretty much baby this blood clot? I'm trying to be careful even when swallowing. Everytime I've swallowed I've pretty much opened my mouth so there's no sort of suction to have it fall out.

Hi Pythonmsh,
I guess it is more important how much of the blood clot has stayed in rather than how much has come out!
The blood clot is the key to good healing. If you lose the clot, you could get the dreaded dry socket, which is damn sore for two weeks. Now, if the dry socket has not happened by day three you are pretty much in the clear so I would go really easy of the area for that amount of time.
Best of luck

It seems like that excess blood clot is gone as I woke up. The area still looks really bloody and clotted.

It's almost been 72 hours now. can I assume it's okay to eat things like lunch meat chewing on the opposite side?
Also been trying some Kraft cheese slices. I eat them fairly easily. I just wanna make sure I'm not causing any problems.
