...who is scared of going to the dentist? ;D

Seriously.

It has to be possible.

My dad is a doctor (not dentist) who seems to be afraid of going to the dentist, and maybe other procedures too but men don't talk about it. Is that close enough?

I know one dentist who needs nitrous oxide just for a check up. Most dentists don't really need much work done and some of it can be DIY anyway :)

Doctors are almost always terrible patients.

I agree. Doctors are terrible patients. I have been guilty of this myself. ;D

I think in some cases they're more likely to worry because they KNOW more about what's being done and such. If that makes any sense at all.

We learned about dental stuff vaguely last year in Animal Science (before I went back to the dentist, you can bet I was freaking out) and during one of my dental appointments I was naming off the tools in my head. :o

Can a dentist do thier own thier own fillings? I bet they don't slam in LA's like they do to thier own patients!!

Is it possible for dentist's to do thier own extractions? Perhaps those who do understand why there are people like me who are phobic!

Given the state of most dentists' teeth I don't think they go very often...!;)

Oh geez! I don't know anyone who would want to take out their own tooth. I always turn off Castaway when it gets to that bit :giggle:

I still find it slightly amusing that my older dentist has braces, but hey nothing wrong with that!

A while ago I was in the chair waiting for the LA to kick in. The doctor wasn't in the room, so the nurse, who knew I was a nervous patient and was trying to cheer me up, told me how my dentist was too afraid to go to another doctor for a root canal, so he resorted to pulling his own tooth in the mirror. When the doctor came back he saw us laughing and asked why. The nurse said she told me his story so he was like "Oh yeah, I'm afraid of the dentist. Don't do as the doctor does, do as the doctor says"
Needless to say, it didn't help me much with my phobia, but it lightened the mood a bit nonetheless :) He moved practice so I'm going to another dentist now and she's the most awesomestest. :yay:
