Having wisdom tooth removed tomorrow; how common is it to get jaw issues like TMJ after surgery?

I'm going to an oral surgeon and he seems pretty good and claims that he is also a TMJ specialist. I'm only having one removed, but it's fully impacted and horizontal. They will also be removing a cyst with the tooth. I will be under general anesthesia due to my anxiety issues...

About 6 years ago I have a root canal and the dentist doing it dislocated my jaw. Every since then if I open my jaw too wide, it briefly locks out of place but then pops back into place.

I explained this to my surgeon that will be doing the surgery and he didn't seem to think it would be an issue. However, I'm still worried that it will happen and I'll have lockjaw or something else happen.

Can someone help me feel better? :)

Happy/sorry I can't tell you that I've been-there-done-that. Sounds dreadful.
All I can say is that dental procedures have improved SO MUCH in recent years.
Wishing you sooo much good luck and easy recovery.
Let us know how it goes.
You are very brave...but I'm betting it will all be OK.
