Good morning all,

I've finally made the appointment. I rang the surgery this morning and got my appointment for Friday 7th April. I told the receptionist that I have a fear and she reassured me that nothing will be done on the 1st day. She also told me about IV sedation which I have had in the past.I feel that a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and to be honest I want to go now and get sorted. I want to be able to smile again properly, something that has been impossible for me to do for a few months now. [smiley=jumping.gif]

That is fantastic news [smiley=cloud9.gif] - congratulations [smiley=cheers.gif]!!! Picking up the phone and making that call is often the hardest thing to do.

WELL DONE :D!!

[smiley=jumping.gif] Congrats to you! I know how hard it is. Be proud of yourself!

Hi All,

Well I finally went to the dentist today for a check up. I was feeling ok all morning up until 1/2 an hour before my appointment. When I got to the Surgery the Receptionist was lovely and asked me to fill out a form. I have been to this surgery before so they still had my records. The dentist noticed that I needed the IV sedation and the Receptionist informed me that the nurse who does the sedation is in hospital and they don't know when she will be back. So she arranged another appointment at their other surgery for next Tuesday at 10.45.
Apparantly the dentists there are both qualified to do the sedation. So at the moment I am back to square one. ::)

Well done for going (and staying so calm in the run-up) :D!
Wishing you all the best for Tuesday 8-)!

Thanks for that lets. I will post tomorrow and let you know how i got on.

Hello All,

Well I went to the dentist this morning again!!. I was a bit nervous meeting my new dentist. When I was called  I was taken to have x-rays done which only took a few minutes. After the x-rays I went to meet the dentist. He was lovely, and very good looking. He shook my hand and introduced himself. I explained to him about my phobia and he told me not to worry because thats what he was there for to help nervous patients. He asked a few general health questions and told me to lie down on the chair. I explained also that my teeth were in a bad way. He gave me a good examination and he explained exactly what he was going to do and how much it was all going to cost. I have to go back on 25th to have impressions done at 8.30am and return at 4.00pm to start my treatment. I really did feel happy leaving the surgery even though I need loads done, but I will be sedated so I won't feel a thing. I hope that this post will encourage others and if you find a dentist that does IV sedation GO FOR IT. I had my last treatment at this surgery and every time I went I was sedated. That was 3 years ago and now my biggest regret is that i didn't go every 6 months. [smiley=jumping.gif] :D

Hi All,

Well I went to the dentist yesterday. The 1st appointment was 8.30 and I felt ok, saying that I took a Diazapam 1/2 an hour before. I was called and the Dentist told me that I was just having impressions taken and it was ok. I returned again at 4pm and didn't feel nervous at all. When I went in to the surgery the dentist asked me how I was feeling and just spoke about general things to make me feel a bit easier. He tried to give me the Sedation needle into my hand but he found it difficult to get a vein so he tried my arm and it worked. The last thing i remember saying to him was "It's working" and then I was out of it. I had 2 teeth removed and when I came round I had my new one's fitted. I really feel good now that I went because I can actually smile again. I only have 1 more appointment to have a few fillings and a clean up. So If anyone reading this post is as nervous as I was please do look for a dentist that is sympathic and also does IV Sedation, because in all honesty it is a huge bonus and I am now looking forward to the 15th of May for my next appointment.

Wooo, I'd think that'd make it worse, but while I'm not getting IV sedation, I think we found someone who will do that cute little pill for a bit cheaper. I'm still really nervious, but I just want to get this done!
