Hi,
So I'm at the point where I go for a cleaning every 4 months and my dentist does a checkup once a year. Everything seemed ok at my last appointment, a cleaning one. My next one will be May 31st and would include a cleaning and dentist checkup. My dentist puts me under general anesthesia when he does dental work on me.

However, I started feeling during the last week of March a dull ache in my upper teeth. I know that when my sinus are full (which they are now), I do also start feeling a dull ache in my upper teeth. There is one tooth (a molar on my left upper side), that if I pass my finger where the tooth and gum meets on my tongue side, I do feel a bit of pain (but sometimes, I don't notice pain). I start finding it hard to concentrate on my work sometime because I keep thinking about how my teeth.

I hate feeling pain between my appointments and I'm not sure if I should go see my dentist or just wait for my next appointment that is in a bit more then a month away.

I still hate going to the dentist, even tough sedation makes it bareable when I need actual work done. I always get pretty nervous when I need to go.

Hey :)

I think you should see your dentist sooner rather than later. Not because it's definitely something bad that needs work, but because the sooner a problem is found, the easier it is to take care of! Of course it may be nothing, but it would be better to know for sure.

I know the dentist is a horrible, nerve-wracking experience for most of us here. You're not alone! :hug4:

I went to the regular doctor back in the week of the 10th and he confirmed I had sinusitis and gave me a prescription for decongestant and antibiotics. When he tapped on my sinus, I felt the pain in my teeth and he also asked me if I was feeling it in my teeth. I started feeling better during the long Easter weekend.

Unfortunately, the blocked sinus feeling, and tooth pain, are back. Last week I went back to the doctor and he gave me more antibiotics. As for the gum pain, it went away.

I would prefer not to have to pay for a dentist visit, especially if I can get too feel better by fixing my sinus issue.

At the end of the second prescription, everything seems to have calmed down and no more pain in sinuses or teeth. I had a cleaning at the end of May, a bit earlier than the 31st because they had to move my appointment. Unfortunately, that appointment was after a long weekend, so they were a bit late to see me and I couldn't see the dentist because he was too busy with multiple emergencies.

Around the June 17th weekend, I started to feel issues with my sinus. I went to the doctor and got antibiotics before leaving for the Canada Day long weekend. At the end of the first course of antibiotics, I didn't feel much better. I went to the dentist, considering he didn't examine me as I had expected at my last visit, and he quickly concluded that it's my sinuses and not my tooth after doing a pan x-ray, some examination of my teeth and gum and a bit of percussion testing on teeth that already feel tender due to the sinus issues. I also got a 2nd round of antibiotics, but this time we are also switching the antibiotics for one that requires that I stay out of the sun, a bit difficult in the middle of summer.

I need to figure out a way to be able to focus on my work now, instead of freaking out about my sinus and teeth.

This morning I had a cleaning appointment and asked the dentist to take a look regarding my dull ache in my top teeth after seeing an ENT who said I don't seem to have a sinus infection. With the x-rays the dentist took, it was discovered that I have an abscess under a tooth that was previously treated with a root canal and crown. We decided to take it out. I will be getting out Monday April 30th, so in 11 days.

Nothing wrong with going to dentist inbetween appointments if you think you got a problem.

I have done it. I knocked a bit of filling out over Christmas which got treated by one of the tech ladies who is allowed to do fillings, she is a dentist but needed the okay from my dentist.

I have gone in between where I needed an dental abscess attend to, even though I put it off two days before making the appoinment I go to dentist regularly but stuggled to keep my teeth clean, small mouth, overbite/crossbite/overcrowding problem and poor lighting and mirror at home.

I broke a piece of filling years ago on a piece of fish batter from the local fish and chip shop, the filling was possible loose, but went in next day and was seen on the day (I ended up losing the tooth a few years later as I could not afford the root canal at the time) was not my reguarly dentist he wanted to charge my privately not nhs prices.

I sooner go and have problems look at, even though I go every three months she does this catch problems if I get any whilst small.

Good luck at your appointmnet

Sure, but paying around $200 to get your dentist telling you that everything looks OK, is not great. Sure it's better than having to pay pricey work. So it's hard making the choice between wishing it's simply sinus issues or going to the dentist to see if it's a dental issue.
