Hello everyone,

Just looking for some moral support and info :hug4:

I have a root canal scheduled for tomorrow on my top front tooth and am terrified! Just want to know if anyone else has had a front tooth done and what to expect. Is it easier than a molar to perform a rct on?? I've had one done on a molar years and years ago, but it's been so long that I'm scared again of the procedure, lol :shame::shame:.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing your advice! :)

Anthony

Hi Anthony

I don't know if I ever had root canal done, but I think I may have had under sedation, but still don't know for definite. But.... from what I have read on here and other sites, this is easier than a filling, so on that basis, I am going to hop that you will be more than a 100% good tomorrow.

Big hugs xoxoxo

Hi, Anthony,
Yes, I had a root canal done on a bottom front tooth. I think front teeth are easier to do root canals on since I think they have less roots than molars.
As long as you're numb enough, a root canal isn't any worse than getting a filling done. There will be an odd sensation (not painful, just odd) when your dentist is cleaning out the canal............other than that, it's really nothing.
If you're feeling pain at anytime, don't hestitate to let your dentist know so he/she can give you more local anesthetic.
Good :clover: and many :hug5:'s!!!!!

Thanks for the responses! Still nervous and counting down the hours until I have to go tomorrow, hopefully I can get some sleep tonight...

Well in 2 hours I'll be getting this root canal over with! So terrified! Wish me luck everyone..

Thanks for all the words or encouragement, I'm on my way there right now...
I'll report back when I'm done!

Hello everyone, once again I just want to say thanks for all your well wishes and words of encouragement!!

I was sooooo nervous when I got to the endodontist office but I knew I had to go through with the root canal and all I have to say is that is was not nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be! I let the nurse and doctor know how nervous I was so they were sure to be extra kind to me. :)

As soon as I sat down the nurse proceeded to numb me up with the topical gel on my gums. I got two injections, one on the outside part of my gum and one on the inside roof of my gum (palate? Which I was terrified of after hearing how much they hurt) but they only pinched a bit! After that it was smooth sailing, just a lot of sitting there while the team did their work! Only a little bit of drilling then some scraping with the files to clean out the pulp, some disinfecting, then some packing of the tooth and a temp filling!

I go back in a week to get a permanent filling put in as I got some internal bleaching done to my tooth which has to sit in there for a few days to take effect to whiten my tooth.

All in all, i would have to say everything went great and I'm happy it's done and over with. Like everyone else say's, the worst part is the anticipation and worrying but once it starts to happen you realize it's not as bad as your mind makes it out to be! :jump:

If anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask me! And good luck to everyone on their journeys to excellent smiles and conquering your fear of the dentist!:yay:

Hi Mikey and thanks!

The tooth that I got a root canal on was my front top right tooth. I hit my tooth real hard when I was about 9 years old (I'm 30 now) and ever since it has been discoloured and dead but never caused me any problems (besides the cosmetic issue). But about four months ago I developed an infection in the top part of my tooth, in the gum which I was on antibiotics for and was advised to really consider getting it taken care off by a root canal.

So to answer your question, my tooth was fully intact just dead and causing me issues! Hope that helps you out! If you have any other question don't hesitate to ask!

Anthony

Oh ok so like the tooth it self was still there just dead right and were you really scared going in to have it done I'm really nervous about all this so you can read my journal to learn more about my story if you'd like :)

Ya, I would be lying if I said I wasn't scared to have it done! I was pretty terrified, but I just let the doctor and his team know that I was nervous and they took care of me and made sure I was always comfortable and knew what was going on! :)

I'll have a look at your journal! I wish you nothing but the best for your procedure and like I said, just let them know your feelings and fears and they will make sure you are taken care of! :jump::clover:

Thanks for all your help man I appreciate it
