Severe pain in tooth dispite it being fixed - twice.

I've been in so much agony for weeks now it's doing my box in.

My second bottom molar on the left side is basically just filling now. It's incredibly frustrating because I am terrified of the dentist and I keep plucking up the courage just for it not to work and for me to be in more pain.

The dentist put this white stuff in my tooth, it's not the cosmetic surgery white fillings, more like a white paste, and it hurts just as bad if even worse.

It's weird though, because it's gone from my tooth throbbing to now it's my gums, which is making me think, is it my gums that are giving me trouble? I'm only 17 but I've had trouble with gum disease since I was a kid, and have all these injections inflamed my gums? Because they're all puffy and red and ... ow.

Sorry for the rambling, I'm just at my last straw with this thing. The dentist said he may have to take the tooth out and I'm terrified and grasping at straws for other alternatives.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It might make more sense to get rid of it. You're 17, so you're likely to have a wisdom tooth forming behind this tooth.

Getting this tooth out would free up some space and let you replace a knackered second molar with a nice shiny new 3rd molar...
