Sharp bony bits after tooth removal

Hi

I had 4 teeth extracted last week and can feel what seems to be sharp bony structures with my tongue.

The leaflet my dentist gave me tells me this is normal , but what are they.

This is normal and nothing to worry about. The 'bits' are tiny fragments of the delicate, thin bone that surrounded the tooth before it was removed. Usually they will work themselves out like a splinter does, or the body will resorb them. If they are bothering you, call the dentist and make an appointment. The fragments usually easily lift away with tweezers.
Regards,
Mike
