Swelling 4 weeks post Widsom Tooth Extraction

Hi, I'm 4 weeks post surgery for lower wisdom tooth extraction. Everything seemed to be healing nicely, but just this morning I woke up and it was difficult to close my mouth on my left side. My braces seemed to be getting caught on the inside of my mouth, when they hadn't before. It looks like there is little to no room near the back of my lower teeth on the left side, as the inside of my mouth is just RIGHT there beside the tooth and brace and leaving no room whatsoever.

Also, I have just now started to develop some swelling on my jaw, like a little lump. Also feeling a little off in general. Infection?

Any advice appreciated.

Now I have the bad smelling white pus coming from somewhere in the mouth. Never had this before. But it really looks like it's coming from where the brace is so close to the mouth and possibly cutting it. Is this possible? It doesn't look to be coming from wisdom tooth socket; not that I can see much anyway.

I'm no dentist but you should let the dentist take a look at it. It might not be related to the wisdom tooth but could possibly be an infection. The sooner you take care of it the better.

Thanks. Yeah I have now booked dentist for tomorrow morning. The surgeon is miles away, difficult to see at short notice. I guess it's best for my regular dentist to take a look. I really though I was done with the whole recovery thing . I'll let you know how it goes.

Hey again. They said that it is most likely an infection. I was given a new course of antibiotics and am going back in a week for a checkup. They can't see too well though, as there is too much swelling, but thought that the wisdom tooth sockets were healing fine. Hmm..
