Hi there. I have been diagnosed with Pericoronitis in the past. I am getting my wisdom teeth out hopefully early 2023. These last 2 days I have hard this pain and hard swelling that's really bothering me. It's more painful today than yesterday. I also have ear pain in that area. No drainage or pus or fever.

Is this normal or a flare up? I don't know what to do, but I am freaking out because I cannot afford anymore dental treatment for a little bit.

Do I need to go to the ER? Or dentist? So many things online say this can be dangerous, can spread to my neck, etc. Please help me.

Classic pericoronitis, needs antibiotics and washed out with some salty water. See your dentist ASAP.

@Gordon Hi thanks so much. Would there be complications if I didnt get an antibiotic immediately? I dont know when they can get me in. I am kinda freaked out ugh.

What will they do at the dentist office?

@Gordon Cant get into dentist until next week and they are charging a fee which I am so strapped for funds.

Could I take the amoxcicillin I have at home? I have to get them removed, but can't afford it yet and don't have dental insurance. Is an antibiotic absolutely necessary?

Curious what I can do to help in the meantime? I dont want this to turn into an emergency.

Sure you can, assuming you're not allergic and you've not had any penicillin type antibiotics in the past 6 weeks.
Can you get somebody to use a syringe and squirt some salty water into the flap over the tooth? What tends to happen is that a bit of food gets stuck under the flap, sets off a small infection which then causes some swelling, the tooth above starts biting into the swollen area, which swells more and so forth...
