teeth extraction 36 hours ago now bloody mucus from nose - sign of infection or what ?

I have had looong standing problems with a crowned tooth where root died .Root canal through crown failed to resolve problem which was sensitivity and feeling of infection ( heat ,tenderness fullness under eye socket ) . I had this tooth and the adjacent one extracted 36 hours ago and now I suddenly have a fair bit of mucus to clear from my nose. When I blow my nose the mucus has a lot of dark red blood .Should I even be blowing my nose ? I am very very anxious to have any infection cleared up because I am due to start chemo next week and fear this will delay it. Dentist did not suggest antibiotics . And how the hell does one format this text ,I can't insert paragraphs .

I hope someone with more knowledge chimes in soon for you. I was very worried after my three top teeth were extracted and a cyst removed. I was very careful when I needed to blow my nose to blow it without putting pressure on it. Kind of like children do....they blow with both nostrils instead of holding one and blowing with the other if that makes sense.

I think you need to contact your dentist or oral surgeon for advice. It is cold and pollen season where I live, so runny noses are very common. The nose is very friable (easy to bleed) because it has so many capillaries. So I would not worry too much just yet. Hope you feel better soon.

Which tooth did you have out? If you suck through a straw, can you get liquid up it easily?

If you had an upper back tooth out, then it's a bad idea to blow your nose too hard or within the first 24 hrs or so of the extraction.

Thank you both .Yes ,teeth extracted were 2 upper molars .The need to nose blow ( and thanks for tip re adopting child like method of blowing ! ) only came on after first 24 hours . It's like I've suddenly developed a cold ,but lots of dark brown blood .Anyway I went back to dentist who looked at wound ,cleaned it up a bit ,said a little candida ? but all ok .I discussed the blood etc ,no answers about it but seem happy so long as no blood in mouth from nose blowing .
