Just looking for some support. I am getting a bottom molar removed in a week with just local anesthetic. It is broken below the gum line so needs to be removed. I am very very anxious about the injections, particularly the nerve block. I am so afraid it will be very painful.

@starklm26 Nerve block injection is mildly painful, really not a problem. I have had a lot of them. They are not painful enough to make one wince or say ouch. Maybe as painful as a small pinch. Most dentists have topical numbing stuff you can have put where the injection will go that makes it even less painful, you can request this.

@starklm26 The modern dentistry has advanced such that you should not feel any pain during the injection. Maybe some pressure when pushing the stuff in but should not feel painful at all. They should be applying some numbing gel on the gum before the injection though....
For me is I dont fear the pain (because there should not be any) but the numbness. :)

I hope your extraction went well. I had one just two weeks ago, also under local anaesthetic. Mine turned out to be a surgical removal as it had a tricky root, even though it was a premolar.

I was surprised at how easy the injections were. The numbing gel helps a lot. I’ve had a lot of nervous issues with the palate injection due to bad experiences in the past, but the dentist was very gentle and guided me through it all slowly. The dental assistant tapped me on the shoulder during this one so as to distract me from the moment the needle went in.
